What causes quarrels amongst us? Why are we so divided as a nation? Senator Ben Sasse argues that it is because we have lost that “Football on a Friday night feeling.” We’ve lost that feeling of shared community and shared purpose. We quarrel because we don’t know one another. And this is made worse by forces in our culture that seek to exploit division for the sake of some perceived gain. Though a conservative republican, Senator Sasse is issuing a rebuke and challenge for both sides of the political aisle. This book is a great discussion on the roots of political and social division and a roadmap to restoring community. Personally, I think that Senator Sasse is a deep thinker and highly recommend reading anything he writes. Whether you ultimately agree, you will be challenged to think deeply.
